THANKSGIVING MARKET COMING SOON:  HAVE YOU ORDERED YOUR TURKEY?
Fall is in the air -- and Thanksgiving can't be too far behind!  We will be having our annual indoor Thanksgiving Market on Saturday, November 21, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

Don't run the risk of being turkey-less!  There will be turkeys available at the Thanksgiving Market (in addition to ham, pork, chicken, lamb, and goat).  However, for the best selection of sizes, you might want to consider pre-ordering.

TJ's pastured free-range turkeys are free of artificial hormones and unnecessary antibiotics.  You can order at the market or you can call in our email your order.  Pick-up will be at the Thanksgiving Market.  Click here for details on pre-ordering your turkey.

It's almost time for our Thanksgiving Market -- so here's information to help you with menu planning and shopping lists.

This market is not only a wonderful opportunity to cook up a delicious local menu for your Thanksgiving feast -- but it's also a great way to get started on your holiday shopping.  Our local artists will be offering a tremendous variety of unique, high-quality, hand-crafted gifts and decorative items.

A list of Thanksgiving Market vendors is provided here, along with highlights of products they will have available at the market.  Also, we have collected a few recipes to help with menu planning.

This promises to be our biggest Thanksgiving Market yet, with nearly 40 vendors -- a holiday cooking demo by Chef Narss Lapinid, a bake sale by the Humane Society of Central Illinois, an opportunity to visit with members of the Bloomington City Council, and a preview of performances from the Pantagraph's Holiday Spectacular.

Directions and parking for the U.S. Cellular Coliseum are available here.

COME & GET IT!  THE WAY WE ATE 1830 - 2008
McLean County Museum of History
The museum opens at 8:30 a.m. with free admission through noon until September 5.

This is a great opportunity to check out the museum's exhibit on the history of food in McLean County. Explore the eating habits, cooking equipment, methods and diverse food traditions of county residents since the early 1800s.  Investigate four kitchens, each representing a different era and illuminating how the kitchen has changed in the last 180 years.  Hands-on activities and interpretive panels help explain social and economic changes that shaped the way we ate from 1830 to 2008.
