Snow Removal Policy
Winter weather will be here before we know it. The DBA would like to remind you of the City of Bloomington’s Snow Response Program for the Downtown Community, and gives thanks in advance for your efforts to keep downtown safe and welcoming this winter!
Snow Parking Bans: Snow parking bans are called between 7 am and 5 pm on any day of the week. Bans may be called by either the Director of Public Works or his designee.
Residents have 4 hours from the announcement of the ban (through local media sources) to remove vehicles from snow routes and the downtown district. Citizens with limited off-street parking areas are encouraged to utilize space in City parking decks.
Snow call numbers : Weekdays from 7 am – 5 pm, Public Works can be reached at 434-2225. During all other hours, the Bloomington Police Department will contact a department supervisor for salting/plowing requests.
Downtown Sidewalks: Sidewalks must be cleared of snow/ice by owners or occupants of any building within 4 hours of cessation of any snow, sleet or freezing rain. The City of Bloomington Planning and Code Enforcement Department provides enforcement of this ordinance on a complaint basis. (Chapter 38, Section 74 of the Bloomington City Code)
